WIND LEADS NEW CAPACITY IN NOVEMBER, BUT GAS WINS IN LONG TERM: Wind power was the leading source of new electric generating capacity brought online in November, with 333 megawatts out of 873 megawatts of new capacity coming from wind power, according to a monthly FERC update. Solar power wasn’t far behind, adding 294 megawatts of capacity last month. Natural gas added 140 megawatts, while 106 megawatts of new coal came online — the first new coal capacity of the year. But for the first 11 months of 2014, natural gas leads the way, making up just over half of the nearly 11 gigawatts of new capacity brought online through November. Wind power comes in second, making up a little less than a quarter of year-to-date capacity, followed solar at just over 20 percent. FERC’s update: http://1.usa.gov/1zXonRo
