American Wind Action, a nonprofit group that backs wind power, launched a six-figure ad campaign Monday promoting the energy source in Kansas.

The ad campaign includes TV ads running on broadcast and cable, along with radio and digital ads.

Both versions of the TV ad have the same script, which says wind power is “generating economic opportunities across Kansas, creating good-paying jobs for this generation and beyond.” It also touts wind power’s benefits to energy independence and water savings.

Kansas has 3,836 megawatts of installed wind power capacity, the sixth most of any state, according to the American Wind Energy Association. Sens. Pat Roberts (R) and Jerry Moran (R) were notably split on a vote to fund wind energy research in April; Moran supported the measure and Roberts opposed it.
