Power use plummets in PJM

Average peak power use in the 13-state PJM Interconnection territory was off between 8 percent and 9 percent last week, and overall daily consumption was down between 7 percent and 8 percent, according to the grid operator. Power use has fallen in the weeks since most states in the region closed schools and non-essential services. Weekend power use has been off between 2 percent and 4 percent during the pandemic.
