On Thursday, March 8, Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow introduced an amendment to a transportation bill (S.1813) that would have extended the production tax credit for the wind energy industry.

Renewable energy advocates have said the tax credit is crucial to keep the industry moving and to allow the emergence of an offshore wind industry.

The amendment required 60 votes in the Senate. Yesterday it was defeated when the Senate voted 49-49 on the issue. Here is how the Senate voted:
