The nation’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm marked the start of onshore construction with a ground-breaking ceremony Thursday attended by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. Vineyard Wind received its environmental permit from the Biden administration earlier this year — a move that marked the opening salvo of the Biden administration’s push to add 30 gigawatts of offshore wind generation to U.S. coastal waters by 2030. Offshore work for the Vineyard Wind facility is expected to commence in 2022.
