California Senate appropriations committee takes up ISO regionalization bill

A bill that would move California toward forming a regional ISO is under consideration in the state Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill, A.B. 813, calls for the appropriation of about $737,000. Any bill with a fiscal impact of $50,000 or more is put in a “suspense file” until appropriations can review it. [ read more … ]

Coalition decries science plan as comment period nears end

A broad-based coalition of almost 80 advocacy organizations is asking acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler to withdraw a proposed rule that could significantly restrict the types of scientific studies the agency uses in crafting new regulations. “The damage inflicted by this rule would have far-reaching consequences beyond undermining EPA’s scientific research processes,” the coalition said in a letter this afternoon. A coal company and Interior teamed up to save a power plant

A draft policy opposing subsidies for vehicles, fuels and fueling infrastructure was rejected during an American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) meeting in New Orleans last Friday. It marked the second time that an anti-subsidy resolution with implications for electric vehicles and alternative fuels was defeated by the group, which holds forums for conservative state lawmakers and business interests to draw up model legislation.
