Missouri regulators reject massive Midwest wind power line

Missouri utility regulators on Wednesday rejected a proposed high-voltage power line to carry wind power across the Midwest to eastern states, delivering a significant setback to developers of one of the nation’s longest transmission lines. The decision marked the second time in a little over two years that the Missouri Public Service Commission has denied a request from Clean Line Energy Partners to build its power line through the state after a lengthy review process. Members of the House United for Climate and Environmental Justice Task Force are condemning President Trump’s infrastructure order as a gag on public comment that will put the environment at risk for the sake of “corporate profit.” “Removing existing protections and stripping away long-term planning requirements will mean more waste, more accidents, and shorter useful lives for the projects we build. Yet Another U.S. City Commits To 100% Renewable Energy

Last Thursday, just days after Orlando, Fla., established a similar goal, Nevada City, Calif., joined the growing list of U.S. cities that are officially committed to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy. Surrounded by city council members, key members of the community and partners, Nevada City Mayor Duane Strawser announced the city’s near-unanimous vote to ensure that the city’s electricity will come entirely from renewable sources by 2030 and that all energy sources would be renewable by 2050. They include: EPA’s enforcement shop, all 10 EPA regional offices, environmental justice programs and environmental education efforts.
