President Obama hailed the ratification today of the Paris climate agreement. The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to ratify the Paris climate accord, a move that will make the sweeping international agreement a legal reality long before even those who negotiated it expected. “We made the deal in Europe, and we make it a reality in Europe,” Miguel Arias Cañete, the E.U.’s climate and energy commissioner, said on Twitter after the vote. Canada is working on new rules for regulating offshore renewable energy projects, currently a patchwork of laws and procedures that can cause friction between producers and local communities. The federal government is working on a set of comprehensive rules for approving and monitoring offshore energy projects and a single regulatory board to oversee them. A workshop took place in Boston on Thursday and Friday last week to provide Danish suppliers with an overview of the supply chain potential of the US offshore wind market. The event, called US Offshore Wind Academy, was organised by the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago and Offshoreenergy.dk. It gathered representatives of more than 60 companies from all parts of the offshore wind supply chain, Offshoreenergy.dk said on its website. Offering knowledge and expertise, many Danish firms took part in a bid to create connections with potential North American partners and clients.
