Governors' Wind Energy Coalition

April 15, 2015

Colleagues — We’d like to invite you to a one-day meeting to discuss strategic wind energy policy issues, including the national and regional implications of the U.S. Department of Energy’s landmark Wind Vision report, opportunities to leverage the first federal Quadrennial Energy Review transmission and distribution system recommendations, and the status of state-level wind energy policy and actions. Discussion of these issues and your input will help us refine the Coalition’s strategy and work plan and ensure that our activities are coordinated with other key partners in the coming months.

While the difficult national political environment continues at the federal level, it’s important that we adopt an approach that balances state interests and proactive initiatives such as grid modernization, transmission, PTC-ITC extensions, and state RESs. Your ideas are essential to ensuring we use our time and resources effectively to achieve the shared goals of the governors.

Invited participants will include governors’ representatives, AWEA’s Tom Kiernan, representatives from the nation’s wind energy companies, key Administration officials, and congressional staffers.

A preliminary agenda is attached. We welcome your thoughts and ideas as we develop a more detailed agenda in the next few weeks.

The meeting will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Bipartisan Policy Center, 1225 Eye Street, NW, Suite 1000, Washington, D.C. We will also host an informal dinner the evening before the meeting. Please RSVP to this invitation only event at your earliest convenience.

Thanks for all your help and support. We look forward to seeing you in June.
