Governors' Wind Energy Coalition

Coalition Planning Meeting, December 6

October 23, 2013

State Representatives —

We’d like to invite you to a one-day meeting to help us refine our strategy and work plan, and to ensure the Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition activities are coordinated with other key partners in the coming year. While the difficult political environment continues, especially at the federal level, it’s important to devise an approach that balances defensive work (e.g., supporting state RES) and proactive initiatives (e.g., grid modernization, transmission, economic development, state RES enhancement). Your help and input is essential to ensuring we use our time and resources effectively to achieve our shared goals.

Invited participants will also include AWEA’s Rob Gramlich and Tom Kiernan, representatives from the nation’s wind energy companies, key congressional staffers, and representatives from the foundations that support wind energy policy development.

This will be one-day meeting, with an informal dinner the night before. The meeting will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Bipartisan Policy Center, 1225 Eye Street, NW, Suite 1000, Washington, D.C.

If your state law allows you to accept reimbursement for travel, we’ll be glad to pay your reasonable travel costs to Washington, D.C.

We welcome your thoughts and ideas as we develop the meeting’s agenda. We hope to have a draft agenda available late next week. Please let us know if December 6 will work for you.

Thanks.
