Governors' Wind Energy Coalition

January 17, 2017

State Representatives,

Here’s a quick update on the coalition’s activities:

Letter to Coalition Governors from 2017 Leadership Team. Governor Raimondo and Governor Brownback sent a letter to all member governors late last week. The letter thanks Governor Branstad for his leadership last year and outlines the Coalition’s work this year.  The governors end their letter with this message:

“Now more than ever, the Coalition and its member governors must disseminate a common and clear message: our states’ economic futures, independently and collectively, will be determined by the development of our renewable energy resources. We must come together to stress the importance of private sector wind and solar energy development and offer sound policy initiatives to ensure that renewable energy becomes a federal economic development priority.”

Your governor’s letter is listed alphabetically by state here.

Letter to President Trump Suggesting Wind and Solar Initiatives.  We have already drafted a letter to President Trump that identifies policy initiatives that will further the development of the states’ renewable energy resources.  The draft letter is being reviewed now.  We hope to share a draft of the letter with you soon, and plan to deliver the letter to the Admiration and Congressional leadership later this month.

Monthly Conference Call Topics.  Our monthly conference call is scheduled for Thursday, January 26.  We’ll send you the call agenda late next week. Here’re some of the agenda items:
