A leading politician on climate policy says the stakes for the planet couldn’t be higher in this fall’s presidential contest.

“Climate is on the ballot this year,” Sen. Ed Markey, a Massachusetts Democrat, told a crowd Monday at Harvard University’s Climate Action Week.

He implored young people who care about climate change to get involved on the issue as President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump face off again this fall.

“They have a chance to make a big decision on the most important climate election in global history,” Markey said.
