Manchin looks ahead

Senate Energy ranking member Joe Manchin cheered the standalone energy legislation the Senate is poised to pass and said he’s hopeful that lawmakers in the House will see the legislative package, S. 2657 (116), as a consensus, bipartisan achievement that needs few tweaks. The West Virginia Democrat sat down for a one-on-one interview with Pro’s Anthony Adragna last week to discuss the bill’s prospects, as well as what the future holds for fossil fuels and FERC:

On the lack of progress for Democratic FERC pick Allison Clements: “My goodness, they’re afraid of one woman. They’re afraid of this one lady who’s smarter than all of them put together because she understands the system and knows it better than them. And they’re afraid of having that person there with the input she could bring to the table.”
