A new letter from 16 Democratic senators calls on FERC to finish up its rule to allow distributed energy resources to connect to the grid. The letter, led by Sheldon Whitehouse and Ed Markey, concerns the integration of DERs and renewable aggregators into capacity and energy markets. “This will enable consumers to play a central role in strengthening reliability and avoiding unnecessary costs by supplying localized energy services,” the senators write.
