Greetings from the Wind Program,

Today is an exciting day for wind power. The White House has announced the release of the U.S. Department of Energy’s highly anticipated Wind Vision Report. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the critical role you played in making this effort a reality. The Wind Vision Report would certainly not have been possible without your involvement and thoughtful participation.

Over the course of the last 20 months, the Wind Vision grew into a truly collaborative effort with the participation of over 250 individuals and 110 stakeholder groups. Together, we delved into new dimensions facing our industry, ranging from: technological advancements, cost reductions, environmental stewardship, to siting and transmission development.

Among its many analytical findings, the Wind Vision Report builds upon the success of the wind industry to date, and projects that wind power could become directly competitive with conventional energy technologies within the next decade. Additionally, wind energy is projected to fuel the nation by providing enormous environmental, societal, and economic benefits. I hope and expect that the Wind Vision Report will be a valuable resource guide in the nation’s strategy to reduce carbon pollution and continue to grow a strong U.S. clean energy economy.

I encourage you to share the findings of the Wind Vision Report beyond the wind energy community.

Thank you for your active participation, patience, expertise, and diligence in working with the Wind Program and its collaborators throughout the Wind Vision initiative. I look forward to celebrating future wind energy success and collaborative efforts with you and the rest of the U.S. wind energy community.
