“It’s no longer enough to consider climate change as a stand-alone ‘green’ issue. Our work to build a safe climate must also create good, high-paying and union jobs, and end a toxic legacy of environmental racism that steers pollution into our most vulnerable communities,” Ricketts tweeted today in announcing he would be a senior fellow on CAP’s energy and environment team.

Ricketts was one of the lead architects of Inslee’s aggressive approach to combating climate change, an issue central to his campaign.

Ricketts also worked on Capitol Hill as an executive director for the congressional Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, which Inslee co-founded as a House member.

The Center for American Progress is a left-leaning think tank, currently chaired by former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), that is home to many former Obama and Clinton White House staffers.

Ricketts, who spoke to E&E News at climate event today, said several presidential campaigns have already picked up climate ideas from Inslee’s campaign, and said he would continue to work those issues at CAP.
