Fishing industry backs offshore pause

The Responsible Offshore Development Alliance cited disruptions from the coronavirus pandemic in a letter Tuesday urging governors and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to pause the regulatory process for renewable energy development in the Gulf of Maine for six months. The group, which represents the fishing industry, says the industry is responding to the pandemic, “leaving insufficient opportunities for meaningful engagement in the siting and other planning of potential offshore renewables.”
