California environmental regulators on Tuesday said they were considering accelerating the state’s climate policies to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, including requiring all new-car sales to be zero-emission by 2025. The Air Resources Board said it would analyze ways to achieve sharper-than-planned carbon emissions reductions in their update to the agency’s “scoping plan,” or road map for how to achieve the state’s climate targets. Agency officials said at a Tuesday workshop that they would evaluate requiring all new light-duty vehicles to be zero-emission by 2025 and other vehicles to be zero-emission by 2030, ahead of the 2035 trajectory they proposed earlier this year.
