Former Vice President Joe Biden signaled new environmental policies on Monday after receiving an endorsement from one prominent green group. The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsed Biden, already the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, pointing to his history tackling climate change. But the group also said Biden committed to building on that career with additional policies to come, including in “environmental justice, new, concrete emissions reduction goals to achieve within a decade, and more investments in a clean energy economy.”

In a statement Monday, Biden echoed that “in the months ahead” he hopes to expand his climate plan . Biden said he recognizes climate change is an issue that resonates with many, including young people, and said he wants to campaign on the issue. “To achieve this aim, I have asked my campaign to commence a process to meaningfully engage with more voices from the climate movement — including environmental justice leaders and worker organizations, and collaborate on additional policies in areas ranging from environmental justice to new, concrete goals we can achieve within a decade, to more investments in a clean energy economy,” Biden said.
