Nebraska’s wind and solar industry brings its annual conference to the Omaha metro area for the first time this week.
The event will be Wednesday and Thursday at the La Vista Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway, and features national and local experts in renewable energy.
Among the 56 speakers are top officials with the American Wind Energy Association, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy. This is the seventh year for the conference, and the increasing stature of speakers mirrors the state’s accelerating use of wind power, said conference co-chairman John Hansen.
Over the last three years, Nebraska has seen its largest spurt of wind development in its history, Hansen said.
A registration fee applies. For information, visitwww.nebraskawindandsolarconference.com.
In addition to the conference, there will be an optional tour of solar power units at the Omaha Public Power District, Creighton University and Metropolitan Community College.
